Inside a "DDR Game" mat (appears to be the industry standard mat that comes bundled with new ddr games), there is a red wire, a yellow wire, and a green wire. However, I have no idea if those match up correctly with the wires in a USB cord. The dance mat also has a blue and a brown wire. I matched the colors that were there up, and matched blue to white and brown to black, soddered, soddered again, then once more for good measure, wrapped each connection individually in electrical tape, then taped the whole thing down flat onto the cords. Yet I'm still getting the unknown hardware error! Sure, I could just go with wild abandon and guess, but i'll eventually run out of wire, and besides, I own neither the sodder nor soddering gun used.

Any help as to the actual wiring for a ddr mat?
